Ryan Simpson - Chef Proprietor

Ryan left his home town of Nuneaton at 18 and moved to Roanne in France where he undertook a culinary apprenticeship working for three-star likes of the Troigros family, Guy Savoy and Pierre Gagnaire. On returning to the UK, Ryan began his journey up the kitchen hierarchy via Restaurant Gordon Ramsey, Sketch, The Langham, Winteringham Fields and The Elephant which culminated in his first Head Chef role at The Goose, swiftly followed by a  Michelin Star only 18 months later. Ryan's approach at Orwells is led by ingredients. Using a wealth of classic and modern techniques he always strives to make the best of what rural Britain can offer.

Liam Trotman - Chef Proprietor

Born and bred Scouser, Liam got his start as a chef in the famous 60 Hope Street before moving out of the city  to work at Bovey Castle, Dartmoor before joining Ryan at The Goose in 2008. Liam has spent a lot of time perfecting the pastry at Orwells along with the bread. As well as cooking, Liam loves to garden and currently grows 75% of the restaurant's fruit and vegetables from a small holding in Lower Shiplake. He has now added another string to his bow by becoming a fully fledged beekeeper.

Arnaud Delaporte - Restaurant Manager

Arnaud is from the extended part of Britain, known as Normandy in France. He started in hospitality at the age of 15, learning within a country that set the standards for hospitality. Arnaud specialises in his wine knowledge and  the love of good food. In his spare time Arnaud is often found eating out in great restaurants or watching a west end show. Apart from his career, Arnaud's other passion is Star Wars.

Jack Gordon - Junior Sous Chef Jack is from Stoke-on-Trent, worked in some great UK restaurants then went to France to work in the iconic Bernard L'oiseau restaurant in Burgundy. Decided to join Orwells to further his experience, Jack also likes to play rugby in his spare time.

Aaron Goodwin - Bartender From Manchester, Aaron decided to take a new turn in his life and career to start as a bartender at Orwells. Enthusiastic about learning the spirit and wine side of Orwells, Aaron is helping creating new cocktails and flavours and has more than 1 trick up his sleeve...

Mala - Head Waitress Mala loves her food and drinks, and decided to join Orwells as a part-timer back in 2015, working a normal 9 to 5 job from Monday to Friday and helping at Orwells on the weekend. Enjoying our food and our philosophy she decided to quit her job to join Orwells as a member the team full time in September 2016.
